Some days stay with you long after you leave the island. For Penny and I, one of those days was our perfect naturist day at sea with SailNude.com aboard the stunning 50-foot catamaran Manava.
On Tuesday, March 24th, we joined a small group of 16 guests for what turned out to be one of the best day trips we’ve ever experienced in Sint Maarten.
A Small-World Connection at the Dock

We met Captain Len at Port de Plaisance Marina, where Manava was docked and ready. In a great coincidence, Len is originally from the Vancouver, BC area – just like Penny and I. That instant connection made the day feel even more personal right from the start.
We were joined by my sister-in-law Kathy and brother-in-law Chris, and all four of us were immediately welcomed aboard.
Len personally greeted each guest and introduced us to Chef Roelz, the cook and crew member. Roelz, a very beautiful and talented chef, played a huge role in making the day unforgettable.
A Warm Welcome and Relaxed Atmosphere
After a safety briefing, we were treated to a continental breakfast of pastries, breads, cheese, and fresh coffee. The open bar was already flowing with beer, wine, champagne, and Chef Roelz excellent rum punch.
One thing that stood out early was the friendly atmosphere onboard. Guests quickly began chatting, laughing, and getting to know one another. By the end of the day, it felt like a group of friends rather than strangers.
In fact, Penny and I met a couple from Ephrata, Washington – a place we drive through every summer on our way to Soap Lake. Small world moments like that made the experience even more memorable.
A Truly Relaxing Naturist Experience
One of the most memorable aspects of the day was how natural and comfortable everything felt once we were out on the open water. After leaving the harbour, guests gradually disrobed, and within a short time, everyone was simply enjoying the freedom of being nude together.
There was nothing awkward or uncomfortable – quite the opposite. Len and Rules fostered a respectful, welcoming environment that encouraged friendly, healthy naturism. Everyone felt at ease, and any initial hesitation quickly disappeared.

Spending the entire day without clothing created a unique sense of connection — not just with the beautiful Caribbean surroundings, but with each other as well. It was a day completely free of inhibition, where people could relax, be themselves, and enjoy the simple pleasure of being in the sun and sea. It’s something that’s hard to describe unless you experience it, but it truly added a special dimension to the entire trip.
Sailing Out of Simpson Bay
As sailors Chris and I, I helped Roelz cast off and stow the fenders as we cruised through Simpson Bay Lagoon toward the 10:30 bridge opening.
After a short wait with other vessels, the bridge opened and we made our way out to sea. Once clear of the harbour, the atmosphere shifted – guests disrobed, and we all enjoyed the freedom of sailing nude on the open Caribbean waters.
A Beautiful Catamaran Experience
The Manava is a spacious and comfortable 50-foot catamaran, offering:
- Generous lounging areas in both sun and shade
- Wide deck space for relaxing and socializing
- A smooth, stable ride ideal for a full day at sea
- Comfortable onboard amenities for extended charters
With only a limited number of guests onboard, the experience feels personal, uncrowded, and relaxed.
Snorkeling and Exploring Little Bay
After sailing a few miles along the coast, we made our way to Little Bay, where we tied up to a mooring buoy.
From there, guests snorkeled to an underwater sculpture park, including a fascinating sunken helicopter. The water was calm, clear, and perfect for exploring.
A Standout Lunch Experience
We then sailed into Philipsburg Harbour and anchored for lunch. And what a lunch it was!

Having done many day trips around the island, I can confidently say:
**If great food matters to you, SailNude is easily the top choice.** https://sailnude.com
Maho Beach – Planes Overhead
After lunch, we headed west and positioned the boat off Maho Beach, aligned with Runway 10 at Princess Juliana International Airport.

Watching planes from JetBlue, Air France, and WestJet pass low overhead was spectacular. Everyone gathered on deck with cameras in hand – a true Sint Maarten highlight.
Final Swim at Baie Longue
Our final stop was Baie Longue, near the beautiful La Samanna.

We enjoyed a relaxing swim around the boat – the perfect way to end the day.
On the return, Chef Roelz served a special rum punch with champagne along with chips, salsa and guacamole which was a great finishing touch.
Safety, Professionalism, and More Adventures

As a sailor, I always pay attention to how a vessel is run. One thing that stood out immediately was Len’s professionalism and focus on safety. As an RYA Yachtmaster-certified captain, Len operates the vessel with professionalism, precision, and a strong focus on safety. As an experienced naturist and co-owner of Naturist.sx, I’ve had the opportunity to experience many naturist environments over the years. What stood out on this trip was how naturally Len and Rules created a fun, lighthearted, and respectful atmosphere onboard – one that any seasoned naturist would immediately appreciate. They struck the perfect balance between playful and comfortable, allowing guests to fully relax and enjoy the experience in a genuinely welcoming environment.Beyond day trips, Len also offers:Multi-day sailing adventures.
